12th century Scabbard and Balteus

~ • ~

The inner sheath is made of wood, carved to fit the blade, and is lined with linen to keep it clean and safe from humidity.

The scabbard and the balteus are made in bull leather, thinner on the former and thicker on the latter. The balteus is fastened to the scabbard and to the waist by interwined leather thongs.
